AC Milan are currently in the process of hiring a new sporting director and at the moment the road seems paved for one candidate: Igli Tare.
According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.com, the intention of the Milan management is to add a figure who can work alongside the CEO Giorgio Furlani and Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to conduct the squad rebuild after a dire 2024-25 season.
Above all, they hope to welcome a profile that can live and manage the daily life of everything that happens at Milanello. And after so many names have been explored and offered, Tare is the one who is forcefully climbing the hierarchies.
The former Lazio sporting director has remained a free agent after his contract with the Biancoceleste club ended in June 2023. He had already been close to joining Milan on two other occasions, most notably when an offer was presented to him by Paolo Maldini in 2019.
He decided to extend his deal with Lazio and continue his work there, but now the timing is right and the Albanian feels ready for a new challenge. Milan wish to start planning for next season right away and, for this reason, a new meeting between the parties is already scheduled.
If everything goes well and the economic agreement is found, the deal could be closed by mid-March. Tare is therefore in absolute pole position today, with the alternatives of Fabio Paratici, Tony D’Amico and Andrea Berta becoming more and more distant.
