Como manager Cesc Fabregas was visibly pleased after his side’s victory over Atalanta yesterday and it was their first three points of the campaign for the newly promoted outfit.

The result came as a shock to many, as the game was postponed for a day due to bad weather conditions and waterlogging of the pitch. But that didn’t affect Como, as they beat La Dea 3-2, thanks to goals from Gabriel Strefezza, Alieu Fadera and an own goal from Sead Kolasinac.

It was also Sergi Roberto’s second start for Como, since having arrived on a free transfer after his Barcelona exit. Fabregas had big praise for his former teammate in his chat after the game.

He said, as relayed by SOSFanta: “He played a great game, for me he was the best player on the pitch . He came to Como to give this personality to the team. I knew that doing what we do is not easy, I know I ask a lot of him: going out with the ball at his feet.

“Having a player like that, who inspires confidence, creates the play, plays forward as I like, is important to create an identity and to help the team believe in difficult moments.”

On Strefezza’s performance, Fabregas said: “Between the first and second half, after starting with Strefezza open and having more space, we changed by putting Strefezza inside and low and putting Kolasinac in difficulty, also creating numerical superiority with Moreno. We dribbled well, we played by putting pressure on them too. I congratulate the boys for how they handled it and how they worked until the end.”

Speaking of how the shaped to be tactically, the Spaniard said: “We caused difficulties for Kolasinac with Strefezza . They go man to man and have difficulty with our passing. We went forward to exploit the depth. We worked well in the match. We are all working well and all together. It is not important who plays but it is important that we give our best. But this is only the beginning.”

The newly promoted side now have five points in the bag and are at 15th in the Serie A table, out of the relegation zone.
