Como president reveals attempts for Marcus Rashford and Theo Hernandez | OneFootball

Serie A side Como were linked with moves for Marcus Rashford and Theo Hernandez in the winter transfer window and the club’s CEO has confirmed that they were indeed interested.

Mirwan Suwarso spoke to Sky Italia about Como’s transfer window and he was asked directly about whether the club tried to sign Rashford or Hernandez.

He said, as relayed by SOSFanta: “We tried to do our best to give our coach the players he needed for his style of football. We analysed our needs and, when possible, we tried to resolve them. You have read about many names. Well, not all of them, but many were true. We were close to many players, some of whom did not leave.”

Speaking further, he said: “Yes, we tried, but we are also aware that we are a small club, so there are people who still do not take us seriously. When these big names hear about Como, they say ‘no, I want to play in the Champions League.”

Suwarso also stated that he understands why some players reject the club and it is only a human thing to do.

“This makes sense, we understand well what we can and cannot do. We dream. As human beings, this is what always makes us move forward. Every day we look forward to something bigger, every day we try to do something better than the day before.”

The newly promoted side have done well in recent weeks and even though they have lost to Atalanta, Juventus and Bologna, they have shown clear glimpses of their ability and it is easy to see that Cesc Fabregas’ ideas are starting to come through.
