The Coppa Italia and European knockout cups will be crucial for determining when Fiorentina and Inter Milan will play their makeup match.

This according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb. They note that the fixture will take place sometime in February.

Fiorentina played out the first fifteen minutes of their Serie A match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi yesterday.

However, the two sides had to postpone the match after a shock medical emergency to Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove.

And finding a slot in which to play the rest of the fixture will be no easy feat.

Inter and Fiorentina both have fixtures in the Coppa Italia and in the Champions League and Europa Conference League respectively on the way.

Therefore, there is no convenient date to postpone the fixture to in either December or January.

Theoretically, if Fiorentina and Inter both suffer round of sixteen elimination from the Coppa Italia, that would make rescheduling their Serie A match easier.

The Coppa quarterfinal matches will take place between February 5th and February 26th.

Therefore, the Coppa dates would be freed up for the postponed Serie A fixture if neither Inter nor Fiorentina are playing in those weeks.

Then, there is the matter of Europe.

Both Inter and Fiorentina are on track to qualify for the round of sixteen of their respective European knockout competitions.
