Cristiano Ronaldo is still waiting to make his debut for new club Al-Nassr.
Despite being officially presented by the Saudi Professional League outfit on Tuesday, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t feature in their latest match.
Al-Nassr played Al-Tai at Mrsool Park on Friday, a game which was postponed by 24 hours due to adverse weather conditions in Riyadh.
A brace from Anderson Talisca secured a 2-0 victory for ‘Al Alami’ – a nickname which translates in English to ‘Global Club’.
The two goals from the Brazilian star, who is currently the top scorer in the league, have seen Al-Nassr move four points clear of Al-Shabab at the top of the table.
With Ronaldo to come, it’ll be a huge surprise if Rudi Garcia’s side don’t go on and win the title for a tenth time.
Despite the fact he was unable to play, Ronaldo was at the stadium to watch his new teammates pick up their ninth league victory in 12 games.
He watched the first half from a VIP box and then went into the dressing room to watch the remainder of the match.
Why did Ronaldo change location? Because he fancied a quick workout, with footage of his reaction to Talisca’s second goal on 47 minutes, while sat on an exercise bike, going viral on social media.
The short video clip was posted on Al-Nassr’s official Twitter account and the numbers it’s generated are quite extraordinary to be honest.
Ronaldo fever has gripped Saudi Arabia…
Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo looks in sublime physical shape as he prepares to start a brand new footballing journey in the Middle East.
The goal he was reacting too was actually assisted by former Arsenal goalkeeper, David Ospina.
It was not exactly the best defending from Al-Tai, who failed to deal with the Colombian’s punt forward.
Talisca certainly made the most of it, though. His first touch was exemplary and the left-footed finish while under pressure from a defender wasn’t bad either.
Talisca now has 12 league goals for the season and Ronaldo surely won’t be able to surpass him before the campaign’s conclusion in May.
But an attacking trio featuring those two and Cameroon hero Vincent Aboubakar is certainly something for Al-Nassr fans to salivate over.
There is going to be goals aplenty at Mrsool Park for the foreseeable future, of that we feel certain.
