Japan international joins Chadi Riad in signing for Eagles
Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Japan midfielder Daichi Kamada on a two-year deal.
Kamada joins as a free agent after leaving Lazio last month. He had signed for the Italians last summer following five seasons at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he worked under Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
The 27-year-old becomes the Eagles’ second signing of the summer after the arrival of Morocco centre-back Chadi Riad.
Kamada won the 2022 Europa League under Glasner’s tutelage at Eintracht and the Palace head coach alerted the club to his potential availability. He scored twice in 38 games during his only season at Lazio and also has seven goals in 33 caps for Japan.
“I’m excited to be joining Crystal Palace, and to be working again with Oliver, who is a coach I know well,” he said. “I am looking forward to testing myself in the Premier League, and hopefully the club and I can achieve all of our objectives together.”
Palace chairman Steve Parish added: “Daichi is a truly exceptional talent. He has been one of Europe’s best attacking midfielders in recent seasons, and his experience, technical quality and commitment mark him out as an excellent addition to our already talented squad.
“I am delighted that Daichi has chosen to join Crystal Palace from the many options he had and work once more with Oliver. I am certain Palace fans will relish watching him in the weeks, months and years to come at Selhurst Park.”
