Eagles also close in on £17m deal for Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, as Newcastle call off Marc Guehi move
Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner on loan after selling Sam Johnstone to Wolves for £10million.
Palace need a new backup for first-chioce keeper Dean Henderson and have moved for Turner.
The USA No1 left Arsenal for Forest last summer for a reported £10million but he has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground of some shaky displays last season.
Palace are also closing in on a deal worth around £17m to sign Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, as they target new signings to bolster their squad after back-to-back defeats in their opening two Premier League games.
New Eagles captain Marc Guehi looks set to stay at Selhurst Park after Newcastle ended their summer-long pursuit of the England centre-back.
Palace demanded at least £70m for Guehi and Newcastle have pulled out of talks.
Johnstone has left Palace for Wolves after 34 appearances for the Eagles.
His form last season earned him an England recall but he suffered an injury at the end of season that ruled him out of Euro 2024.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner made it clear that Henderson was his No1 and Wolves have swooped for Johnstone.
Palace chairman Steve Parish: “Sam has given his all over the two years he has spent at this club, and has been a key part of our strong goalkeeping group, whilst fighting his way back into international contention as well.
“We would like to thank him for his service and wish him well.”
Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “Sam’s at a good age – goalkeepers come into their prime a bit later - and what happens from here will be up to the boys in the building, but for us to be able to add someone like him is valuable for us.”
