The midfielder had to be replaced just after the hour mark on Monday night
Oliver Glasner is hopeful the ankle injury which forced Adam Wharton off against Nottingham Forest is “not that serious”.
Wharton appeared to be struggling with pain in his ankle in the second half of Monday night’s 1-1 draw between Crystal Palace and Forest at Selhurst Park, and a minute after Eberechi Eze’s opening goal he was replaced by Will Hughes, in the 61st minute.
The Englishman walked alongside the side of the pitch and headed straight down the tunnel with a member of Palace’s medical staff. He was walking freely.
Palace are just 12 days away from contesting just the third FA Cup final in their history and Glasner will be desperate to keep key men such as Wharton fit for that huge match against Manchester City.
Asked after the match whether he had an update on Wharton’s injury, Glasner replied: “Not really. I hope it’s not that serious.
“I spoke to him. He’s a little bit sore. He twisted his ankle a little bit.
“We will update you, but I hope that it’s not that serious. It looks like it’s not that serious. It [the substitution] was more of a precaution.”
Palace face Tottenham away from home next Sunday in their final match before the FA Cup final on May 17.
