Reports in Italy suggest that Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have lodged an enquiry with Udinese over the availability of goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
Palace are the second team this week to enquire after the 33-year-old, following an approach from Cagliari ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Silvestri has fallen out of favour at the Stadio Friuli at the beginning of this season, losing his starting spot to Maduka Okoye, who played the full 90 against Bologna and in the 2-1 win over Lazio last weekend.
Udinese now see Okoye as their no.1, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, and could therefore allow their reserve option to leave to clear space on their wage bill.
The Udinese stopper already has experience playing in England, having spent three years on Leeds United’s books, where he played for two seasons as a starter in the Championship.
If Palace are to go ahead and sign Silvestri, he would likely serve as an understudy to England international Dean Henderson.
Palace have recently sold Sam Johnstone to Wolverhampton Wanderers, so are on the lookout for a new back-up ‘keeper.
