Crystal Palace are in talks with manager Oliver Glasner as they try to tie him down to a new contract, with chairman Steve Parish confirming he will remain with the club next season.

Glasner’s current contract at Selhurst Park runs until the summer of 2026 and discussions over a new deal will now ramp up after he guided the Eagles to their first-ever piece of major silverware by winning the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Austrian must feel his ambition is being matched by the club’s players and hierarchy before he commits his long-term future to Palace.

Next season, the 50-year-old will take charge of the Eagles’ maiden campaign in Europe when they compete in the Europa League, the competition he won as manager of Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.

Last May, Bayern Munich were willing to pay a compensation fee of £15.5million but failed to prise Glasner away from Palace only three months into the job.

During the course of this season, he has been considered by the RB Leipzig board for their managerial position and also made a shortlist of candidates to replace the Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen.

“Oliver will be here next year,” said Parish, who will try to convince him to stay at the club for longer.

“Everyone knows the length of his contract. Beyond that, we will have to talk. We want to try and extend his contract, but it has to be right for everybody.

“He will stay here for some period of time. I am trying to live in the moment. What happens in the future is for tomorrow.

“He will be here next year and then we will take it from there. We want him to stay, [but] things happen in football, clubs evolve and move on.

“I’d love him to stay, but the club’s got to develop behind him, show the ambition to do the things we want to do to move forward and for people to feel a part of something. If that all aligns, then I think maybe he will.”

Parish added: “We’ve been talking about it. For Oliver, it’s not about the things people think about. He wants to be a part of something that is going in a direction and that’s the same for all of us.

“That’s what we will talk about. Before finals and after finals is not the time for that, but somewhere down the track, we will have a conversation and see what we all feel.”
