Burn has provided unwavering support for the charitable arm of the club since joining the Magpies and continues to proudly raise awareness of the Foundation's work with more than 69,000 people across the North East every year.

In his first official appearance as Player Ambassador, Burn met with Newcastle United Foundation Walking Football League participants, getting involved with officiating games between men's and women's teams of over 40 and over 50s enjoying free physical activity. Now in its sixth season, the Walking Football League has grown from six teams to 16 teams, engaging 195 players each week.

Sharing his pride at becoming Player Ambassador, Burn said: "I am honoured to take on the role of ambassador for Newcastle United Foundation - it's a real privilege to play a part in supporting our community and to do this where I grew up is very special to me.

"I have met some inspirational people who are involved in the charity and who have changed their lives for the better by working with the Foundation. There's a whole range of programmes I've seen that are making a real difference to people, from improving mental health to getting physically active and supporting young people to achieve their dreams.

"I am incredibly proud to continue supporting the Foundation and I'm looking forward to learning more about this amazing charity."

Burn joins Sean Longstaff as an official Player Ambassador for Newcastle United Foundation with the pair committed to championing the Foundation and playing a key role in promoting the work of the charity to inspire others to get involved or fundraise to continue to charity's work.

Steve Beharall, Newcastle United Foundation CEO, said: "We are delighted to welcome Dan Burn as a Player Ambassador for our charity.

"Dan's commitment to supporting our work over the years has been nothing short of outstanding and his move into an ambassadorial role is a very natural progression.

"Dan is a true local hero for the North East and we are proud to have his support to promote the Foundation across the region."

During his first season on Tyneside, Blyth-born Burn visited children receiving treatment at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle. There, he learned more about the Foundation's work in the hospital's paediatric oncology wards with Foundation staff providing respite support for young patients and their families.

He also attended Newcastle United Foundation's Building Foundations Awards ceremony, celebrating the inspirational achievements of North East community members connected by Newcastle United. On the night, Burn presented the Disability Player of the Year Award on stage to Harry Brown, an aspiring football coach, who was ecstatic to meet his United hero.

Burn himself was then named Professional Footballers' Association Community Champion 2022/23, celebrating his work off the pitch enriching his hometown area over the year.

And last season the 32-year-old joined fellow Player Ambassador Longstaff to join a Football Talks wellbeing workshop delivered by the Foundation, helping to lead the conversation to erase the taboo of discussing mental health.

Burn and Longstaff were proud to once again support Newcastle United Foundation's largest fundraising event of the season to celebrate 15 years of the charity's legacy in the community.

Most recently, Burn visited NUCASTLE, powered by Newcastle Building Society, on World Mental Health Day. He teamed up alongside Newcastle United Women's captain Amber-Keegan Stobbs to share personal tips and advice to encourage supporters to take positive actions to improve their wellbeing.
