The 53-year-old Swede is believed to be out of contract in his current position after this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO in Switzerland.
According to reports in the Swedish media by well-respected Aftonbladet journalist Amanda Zaza, Jeglertz is thought to have already held initial talks with Manchester City and he is a potential option to fill the club’s head coach vacancy this summer.
Jeglertz has been linked with a move to the Barclays Women’s Super League before. In 2022, he was thought to be an option for Brighton & Hove Albion but The Seagulls eventually turned to German coach Jens Scheuer.
Jeglertz has a wealth of coaching experience that spans over two decades. Since starting out with Gimonäs CK, he has since gone on to lead Umeå IK, Djurgårdens IF, Umeå FC and Linköping FC while his experience at national team level has come with Finland and Denmark. At club level, Jeglertz led Umeå IK to their second UEFA Women’s Champions League title back in 2004 while he is a twice-crowned Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan Coach of the Year winner.
Manchester City have been without a permanent head coach since parting company with former boss Gareth Taylor in March. With the season now over, the club will be keen to have a new head coach in place as soon as possible as they look towards a more successful campaign in 2025/2026.
