Jonathan David winked to Barcelona and has been linked to Juventus and Inter, but hasn’t committed to a new club even though the end of his contract is quickly approaching. While he’ll leave Lille in a Bosman move, his next team will still have to splurge to get him, Sky Sport Switzerland reports (via Mediaset).
His camp asks for a five-year contract with €9M gross wages, which would be about €5M net in Italy. Moreover, they demand a €15M signing bonus and about €10M in commissions. The total investment would amount to roughly €70M over the years and €34M right away.
In addition to Juventus and Inter, several Premier League clubs, like Newcastle United, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, are mulling whether to make their offer for David, although the costs might scare away a few of them.
The 25-year-old has registered 23 goals and 10 assists in 42 matches across all competitions this campaign. He has hit the net 107 times in 225 games with Lille.
It’s odd that a future free agent of his caliber hasn’t found a new home yet, and his requests must be the reason why. He would still be less expensive than acquiring a top-shelf marksman outright. The Nerazzurri won’t be in the mix unless something happens with Marcus Thuram. Instead, the Old Lady should get a move on, as Dusan Vlahovic is unlikely to stay, even though Igor Tudor will give him more chances, and the ousting of Thiago Motta doesn’t spell well for Randal Kolo Muani, whose permanence has to be negotiated from scratch.
