Kevin De Bruyne has heaped praise on City's homegrown talent after impressive displays from James McAtee, Nico O’Reilly and Rico Lewis in our 5-2 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
Both McAtee and O'Reilly were on target in an important win, with the latter grabbing his first Premier League goal for City in the process when he rounded off the scoring with a left-footed volley.
Despite conceding two early goals at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s side pulled off a fantastic comeback which was spearheaded by De Bruyne.
He scored City’s first before teeing up Omar Marmoush with Mateo Kovacic, McAtee, and O’Reilly completing the five-star performance that saw City move up to fourth for the timebeing at least.
And after the final whistle, the captain was quick to applaud City’s youngsters for the impact they've made at the business end of the campaign.
“There have been so many good players that have come through the Academy in the last 10 years,” began the Belgian.
“They get their chances and their opportunities, and they grab them [to] help us win games and it will help them with [their] confidence. It’s very good for us.”
Just five Premier League games remain this season, with De Bruyne announcing earlier this month that this would be his final campaign at City.
It brings an end to a phenomenal ten years at the Club, but De Bruyne is keen to finish his final campaign in Blue with a flourish.
After the Palace triumph, the 33-year-old detailed about how he is feeling personally ahead of the run-in.
“I’ve been feeling good for the last six weeks so I’m really happy,” said De Bruyne.
“I feel fit and ready to go. I want to play the football I can play. My job is to play good football and help this team win games.
“We needed a little bit more intensity [against Palace] and I tried to give a little bit to the team.
“A lot can happen, and we know we are capable of creating chances. I’m a competitive animal – I don’t like to lose so for me nothing changes.”
