De Laurentiis Looking for Early Reassurance from Conte

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to have some clarity about the future of Antonio Conte before the end of the season, avoiding an encore of what happened with Luciano Spalletti, who stepped down out of the blue after winning the Scudetto, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The latest indications suggest the gaffer will stay put, as things have been rosy following his outburst. The governor wants to make sure of that and has scheduled a meeting with the boss, which will likely go down before the Genoa game next week.
De Laurentiis hasn’t meddled like in the past, delegating the control of the team to Conte, Gabriele Oriali, and director Giovanni Manna. Having already sealed the Champions League qualification allows the team to plan in advance.
The patron is ready to comply again with the requests of the coach on the transfer market, investing what they got from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January and the future Victor Osimhen fee. On the other hand, he’ll underline that they spent €150M without notable departures and while not participating in the cups last summer.
The president’s big presence was a problem at times in the past, but he’s been totally hands-off after finding a boss he felt he could trust, and for good reasons. The gaffer should and probably will stay, but it’d be interesting to know whether it’d be easier for him to justify bolting after winning the title, as he could see it as a mission accomplished, or if missing out, as they might not have better chances to triumph in the next few years.
