Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis took ownership of how poorly the past season has gone but is delighted to have hired the right men to turn things around. He spoke to Radio CRC (via Calciomercato).
“After 14 years of successes, where we were the only team to constantly qualify for a European competition, there was a lull. I was philosophical and positive about it. I’m the deux ex machina and don’t blame anybody else. It’s fair for me to do that toward our fans. I’m a serious entrepreneur who invests his own money.”
De Laurentiis addressed his summer moves.
“I’ve found in Antonio Conte a man who helped me and understood our necessity to rebuild. We had many players who had won the Scudetto but needed to instill a new atmosphere filled with competition and eagerness to play our cards against anybody. I think him, Gabriele Oriali, and his entire staff for their professionality, love, abnegation, and constancy.”
De Laurentiis has been pleasantly surprised by Giovanni Manna.
“We are close, and he’s providing his ability, availability, and desire to show his football knowledge. I finally have a youngster next to me. He’s giving his best while dealing with a demanding person.”
De Laurentiis was happy that Giovanni Di Lorenzo stayed put after his transfer saga.
