Delighted Eleanor Heeps reflected on a memorable debut in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Having been with us since August, 2021, after she joined from Liverpool academy, the young goalkeeper has had to wait patiently for her opportunity and, following positive displays in training sessions, Robert Vilahamn handed her first ever appearance in the senior side for the Women’s League Cup tie.

And the 21-year-old couldn’t have asked for much more in her first 90 minutes in our colours, preserving just our second clean sheet of the season after a commanding performance inside her box.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after the game, Eleanor was visibly pleased as she reflected on a positive afternoon at Brisbane Road.

“It was really good, everyone made me feel so calm and relaxed… it was a good day,” she told us.

Asked on how the experienced players helped her leading up to kick-off, she said: “They just said to me ‘you do you’ and that’s what I did, it was a really afternoon.”

The shot-stopper then took to her official Instagram account the following day and Eleanor added…

“So proud to make my Spurs debut yesterday.

“Big shoutout to @evevevelina for the absolute screamer”

Goalscorer Eveliina Summanen, who netted the only goal of the game with a 40-yard screamer, stood alongside Eleanor in the post-match interview and she was full of praise for her hard work to achieve this special moment.

“It’s amazing,” Eveliina proudly said. “The work you have put in over the last few years has been amazing and seeing you grow, on and off the pitch.

“Congratulations! You deserve this and many more to come.”
