The aftermath of Barcelona’s Supercopa de España defeat on Sunday night has seen all associated with the Blaugrana dealt yet another hefty blow.
This comes amid confirmation that no new faces are expected at the club this month.
Barca, of course, were back in action a short time ago, facing off with arch rivals Real Madrid with hopes of retaining their Super Cup crown.
When all was said and done, however, the Blaugrana were instead brought crashing down to earth, by way of a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Carlo Ancelotti’s troops.
Post-match, widespread chatter has in turn spread across the club’s supporter-base, regarding what they evidently feel would come as much-needed winter reinforcements.
If the latest comments on the part of sporting director Deco are anything to go by, however, the Barca faithful need not hold their breath.
Speaking to the media post-match, Deco was drawn on the Catalans’ plans for the remainder of the January transfer window.
And the Portuguese went on to reveal that, owing to their ongoing financial woes, Barcelona are simply ‘not able to’ add fresh blood to Xavi’s squad at present.
“The reality is that in this moment we are not able to sign players,” he told Movistar, as cited by Fabrizio Romano.
