Over the last few years, there have been several players who have left a deep impact on FC Barcelona and the Catalan club’s fans naturally get excited when the possibility arises of one of their beloved former players’ return to their team.

This is definitely the case with players like Lionel Messi, who spent their entire career at the Blaugrana club and won everything possible here. However, there have been some other players who made a place in the hearts of the Cules but still left without achieving the things they were expected to do.

The clearest of these cases is Neymar, who was one of the most beloved players at Barcelona at one point in time, but whose abrupt departure for Paris Saint Germain left the entire Blaugrana fanbase full of sorrow.

Ironically, the Brazilian’s career did not pan out exactly as was expected once he left the Catalan club, and currently, he is owned by the Saudi club Al-Hilal, where he has not really been able to play because of constant injuries.

As a result, his future is once again subject to speculation and one individual to comment on this matter was none other than the Barcelona Sporting Director Deco.

As SPORT has reported, speaking to the media ahead of the match against Benfica, the Portuguese official closed the door to a possible return of the Brazilian superstar to the Blaugrana team:

“Neymar’s return to Barça was always something very distant. Since he moved to Saudi Arabia, we knew he was a very expensive player, especially in terms of financial fair play.”

Further commenting on the matter, Deco recognized that Neymar still remains one of the best players in the world, and indicated where he might play next:

“At his best, Neymar is one of the best players in the world. He still is and always will be. He is welcome at any club in the world. A deal involving him can never be ruled out, but right now, I see him returning to Brazil.”

Thus, there is currently no possibility of Neymar returning to Barcelona any time soon in any capacity. However, the Catalans are still looking for offensive reinforcements and can add another attacking player to their squad before the January transfer window closes.
