After losing 2-0 to Cruz Azul on 25 October, Hiram Mier insists that Chivas can play much better than they have in recent games.

The 31-year-old defender spoke to CHIVASTV about their recent performances and motivation to fight for the championship.

“Last Sunday we lacked attention and aggressiveness …  Cruz Azul was not so superior, we had a lot of the ball, but we lacked depth, they closed in well behind and that cost us,” said Mier.

“Sometimes the points that we have let go have been due to errors, we have not felt inferior to any team. We have fought well, but we know that we can do much better and for that, we are working.”

Mier reiterated his trust in the club’s nutritionist, medical staff and coaching staff including manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich.

“[Vucetich] is a great person and a great coach, he has a lot of knowledge, experience and that has injected him into the team … the decisions he makes are for the good of the team.”

Chivas’ next match is on Saturday against Pumas, who currently sit third in the table.

“I have a very clear objective and it is to fight for the championship, the whole team has that same line very clear.”

“We are very motivated to continue improving and be able to give it that joy to the people who deserve it.”

“We must get the result in these two games to come.”
