The Reading midfielder will collect her 169th senior international cap against Spain this evening. Troelsgaard is the second-highest appearance maker for Denmark in their history.
When speaking to FAWSL Full-Time in the pre-match press conference, Troelsgaard’s teammate Junge hailed the player’s incredible personal achievements with the Danish national team.
“It is incredible that she has played so many games,” Junge said. “I like playing with her – physically, she’s so strong and you can always see the fire in her eyes. She’s an amazing player with so much experience, I think she has twice played at the EUROs before.
“It would be amazing if she gets to play her 170th game. She’s incredible and a great player to have on the team.”
Denmark lost 3-0 to Spain when the two sides last met in a friendly a little over a year ago but Junge believes that her team are better prepared this time around.
She said “We have prepared well, we know that we are able to defend well and we have a tactic to disturb Spain’s game. We know that they will have the ball more than us.
“I believe that we can show that we have developed from the last time that we played them. On that occasion, we defended well and they didn’t have a lot of chances. We now know what we are going to do with the ball and we are a better team.
I think it is good that we played Spain last year, we know what we are coming up against and we can prepare better.”
Denmark’s final UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 group game against Spain kicks-off at 8pm.
