Serdar Dursun is reportedly set to leave SV Darmstadt in January, leaving the likes of Derby County and Nottingham Forest on standby amid recent interest.
Dursun was heavily linked with a move to Derby County over the course of the summer, after scoring 16 goals for Darmstadt last season.
Forest also joined the race for the striker later on in the transfer window, as Sabri Lamouchi looked to bolster his side’s attacking options.
Dursun remained at Darmstadt, though, and has since scored seven goals and chipped in with three assists for the German second division side.
But according to Bild, Dursun’s future at the club is looking uncertain, with his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
There doesn’t look to be a contract extension on the cards for the striker, either, with a move to the Bundesliga or Turkey said to be of interest to him.
The Verdict
If Derby really do want to sign Dursun still, then January seems to be the perfect chance.
They had bids rejected for him back in the summer, but with only a few months set to be left on his deal, then they could manage to get him on a cut-price in January.
He is a physically strong striker who would give them a real focal point, and he clearly knows where the net is given his excellent record in front of goal in Germany in recent years.
