An insight into the details of the contract renewal offer put to midfield standout Frenkie de Jong by the brass at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday been provided.

De Jong, for his part, has of course spent the last couple of months reestablishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick.

Owing to a resurgence in form following a spell on the sidelines through injury, the former Ajax man has usurped youngster Marc Casadó in the engine room pecking order in Barcelona.

And, evidently, such efforts have not gone unappreciated in the boardroom at the Camp Nou.

De Jong, for his part, is due to see his Blaugrana contract terms expire in the summer of 2026.

Deco and the brass at the club sent a renewal offer the way of the 27-year-old last year, but ultimately decided to rescind as much, owing to De Jong’s struggles.

With the Dutch international now back firing on all cylinders, though, a new proposal has been sent the way of De Jong and his representatives.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, an insight into the details of as much has been forthcoming online.

As per a report from Diario Sport, Barca’s midfield star has been offered a three-year extension, amounting to €18/19 million-per-year, including considerable add-ons:

‘The club would be willing to comply with Frenkie’s economic conditions, as long as the total amount to be received is linked to sporting performance. In other words, Barça would ensure a fixed part to the player less than he receives now, but would increase the variable emoluments (games played, titles won…) to match the current figure.’
