Paolo Di Canio pushed Inter legend Beppe Bergomi to admit that the Nerazzurri are in talks to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus: ‘Don’t be sneaky.’

It happened during Sky Sport Italia’s post-match show on Sunday night.

Di Canio and Bergomi were talking about the future of Chiesa when the former striker told his colleague smiling: ‘Zio [Bergomi’s nickname]. You know they [Inter and Juventus] are negotiating. Don’t be sneaky.”

The former Inter defender and 1982 Italy World Cup winner was initially reluctant to admit it, but he then said, “Yeah, of course. Everyone knows negotiations are ongoing.”

Chiesa is not part of Thiago Motta’s project at Juventus and is currently training separately from first-team players, waiting to join a new club.

The Italian winger’s contract expires in June 2025, so Juventus are pushing to sell him this summer so that they don’t lose him on a free transfer next year.

Thiago Motta said on Sunday that Chiesa’s situation hadn’t changed and, unsurprisingly, the player hasn’t been included in the coach’s 19-man squad list for tonight’s Serie A game against Como.

Roma and Milan have also been linked with Chiesa, who is available for circa €15m.
