Max Cornets disastrous spell at West Ham continues as he again heads out on loan.

The former Burnley winger, who at the time of signing back in 2022 was seen as an exciting and shrewd acquisition, has seen his career plummet since his arrival.

Injury plagued the majority of his time when he was in east London, however his limited appearances did little to convince the club would see a return on the investment, which eventually saw the club sanction a loan to Southampton this season.

Despite the Saints sitting on just 6 points from 21 matches this season, Cornet has not had a look-in, with the rock-bottom club deciding to end his loan spell prematurely.

The club have since confirmed that Cornet is off to Italy to join Genoa for the rest of the season.

“The West Ham United winger’s loan spell at Premier League side Southampton has been terminated by mutual consent and Cornet will now head to Serie A,” it said in the clubs Official Statement.

“The Ivory Coast international, 28, had appeared just four times for the Saints and will hope for more regular opportunities under Genoa manager and former Arsenal and France midfielder Patrick Vieira.”
