A further two Manchester City contract extensions to follow Erling Haaland’s groundbreaking new deal have been hinted by a club insider on social media.

Txiki Begiristain and those in recruitment positions are preparing Pep Guardiola’s side for the next phase of its development, with the Catalan coach himself into the final two years of his Etihad Stadium contract.

The recent January transfer window saw a spend in excess of €200 million on new talents to be brought into the Premier League champions’ playing squad, all with a view towards the next generation amid an ageing squad roster largely costing the club in performances this season.

Alongside the recruitment process that is also ongoing on the Manchester City squad, there is simultaneously a desire to secure the long-term futures of a number of key stars, starting with Erling Haaland and his blockbuster nine-and-a-half year deal penned in January.

And it now seems as though the 24-year-old Norwegian striker may have set the trend for teammates opening talks over new deals themselves and committing their own services to the Etihad side for deeper into their top-level careers.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, a new Etihad Stadium deal for Academy graduate and in-demand midfield talent, Nico O’Reilly is ‘in the works’ after somewhat of a breakthrough season for the player.

Furthermore, Rodri is said to be ‘going nowhere’ in a clear indication that the Ballon d’Or winner and arguably Manchester City’s most-crucial player is closing in on committing his own long-term future to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Any new agreement for O’Reilly would be a huge show of faith from the teenager in the Etihad Stadium club’s plans for him, particularly coming just weeks after Chelsea had shown a clear intent to pay a significant fee to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.

Ultimately, Manchester City rejected the approaches from the West London side after they refused to agree to Etihad officials retaining a number of key clauses in any agreement, such as a buy-back, sell-on, and match rights.

As for Rodri, the Spain international is likely to command intense interest from his home country particularly off the back of stellar successive seasons with Manchester City, and Real Madrid have been tipped as potential suitors by Spanish media.

However, it remains to be seen just how much Los Blancos’ reaction to Rodri’s Ballon d’Or success in 2024 over Vinicius Jr would weigh on his thinking in the event of any approach from the Santiago Bernabeu club.
