Early Luton Town team news ahead of Millwall ft Victor Moses and Daiki Hashioka updates | OneFootball

The Hatters are set to be without a few players ahead of this weekend's game against the Lions, but a new signing could potentially feature.

Luton Town need to make amends against Millwall this weekend, following a very difficult start to the 2024/25 campaign.

A heavy defeat against Burnley during their opening match of the season wasn't the ideal start for the Hatters, but they looked to have stabilised themselves with a draw away at Portsmouth.

Following Thomas Kaminski's dismissal at Fratton Park, their draw at Pompey looked to be a fairly impressive one, but the two losses that followed that game before the international break have consigned Rob Edwards' side to a place in the relegation zone.

This isn't good news for Luton, who would have wanted to make a good start to the campaign following their relegation from the Premier League.

Their poor run of form may continue if they don't perform well, with this afternoon's opponents registering an excellent 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday before the break.

The Lions look set to be tough opponents, despite conceding a hefty seven goals in their opening two league games, and the Hatters look set to face a difficult assignment again today.

We take a look at the visitors' team news ahead of their trip to the English capital.

Victor Moses could make Luton Town debut

Luton's transfer business, in terms of additions, was limited during the latter stages of the window.

Lamine Fanne signed for the club before heading out on loan, so he won't be available for the trip to London.

However, Edwards' side moved to recruit Victor Moses after the window closed, with the ex-Chelsea man putting pen to paper on a deal.

That deal is subject to international clearance, but he could potentially be available for this weekend's clash.

Joining as a free agent after being released by Spartak Moscow, he hasn't played much football recently and with this in mind, it would be a surprise to see him start in the capital.

Four out for Luton Town; Marvelous Nakamba making progress

Tom Krauß was previously expected to be back after the international break as he looks to recover from an ankle injury, but he isn't quite ready to return to action yet, according to Edwards.

Three players who won't feature are Daiki Hashioka, Jacob Brown and Tom Lockyer, with the Hatters needing to be especially cautious with the latter, who has shown real bravery to return to the game following heart issues.

He may not be back in the short term, but with the Hatters having some decent centre-back options, there may not be any pressure on the defender to return to action quickly.

Hashioka, meanwhile, is back on the grass but hasn't returned to full training at this point. Brown is back in training but isn't ready to play yet.

One player who looks set to be available is Marvelous Nakamba, even though he is unable to train every day.

Speaking about the ex-Aston Villa man, Edwards told the Hatters' media team: "There’s a plan in place to keep him fit for selection through the next weeks and months, even though he can’t train every day,” explained Edwards.

"He gets better with gametime and he proved that when he first joined us.

"Once we have Hashi, Browny and Tom back we will have a strong squad."

Reece Burke will be available for Millwall clash

When Reece Burke was withdrawn at half-time against QPR, there were concerns that he had picked up another injury.

That would have been a major shame, but Edwards clarified why he replaced the central defender, revealing that he was fine.

He told Luton Today: "He’s fine, but remember he’s been out for a long time and he played 45 in midweek. Three days later, three games in six days is difficult for Burkey.

"He was playing really well but blowing a little bit as well and I just wanted to protect him as the last thing I want is another injury in that department.

"He was doing well, so it was to protect him, but I also felt their counter-attacking threat and the speed they’ve got on that last line, when they do go quick, Teden would be a good one to deal with that as well. So it was two-fold."
