Manchester City travel to west London on Tuesday night in their return to Premier League action following a dismantling of Salford City at the weekend.

Pep Guardiola and his players are continuing to target an extended run of winning form having recorded victories in all of their last three outings and somewhat emerged from a torrid run across November and December.

Wins against Leicester City and West Ham either side of the turn of the year have given Manchester City supporters plenty of hope that the second-half of the season could bring about much more joy than the first few months.

City have also reached the fourth round of the FA Cup in convincing style too, as League Two side Salford City were beaten 8-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, with James McAtee having scored a hat-trick as part of his first senior goals at home for the club.

As for Brentford, they were at the complete opposite end of the spectrum as Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle marked the post-Wayne Rooney era with a stunning 0-1 cup upset in the third round of the FA Cup in London.

Manchester City are also being buoyed by their improved fitness and injury situation as Oscar Bobb continues to work alongside his teammates towards a return to action, while Ederson completed a comeback by starting at the weekend between the posts.

Ruben Dias and John Stones are likely to remain absent due to their own recovery processes despite recent improvements in their fitness, and Rodri is no doubt still some way off any involvement on the pitch.

Ahead of the confirmed team news from the Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday night, some initial information has began to filter throughout social media from journalists and sources regarding Manchester City’s starting line-up.

According to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad have travelled to the capital without club captain Kyle Walker, who remains at the centre of significant uncertainty surrounding his future.

The Etihad Stadium head coach revealed over the weekend that the 34-year-old right-back had requested to explore his options and seek a move abroad, with both Milan clubs now vying for his signature in the ongoing January market.

Among the players captured arriving at Manchester City’s hotel in west London, in photos released by MailOnline, were Savinho, Matheus Nunes, James McAtee, Rico Lewis, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

As per Simon Bajkowski on the ground at the Gtech Community Stadium, all of Oscar Bobb, Ruben Dias, and John Stones remain absent from the Manchester City squad, alongside a long-term absentee in Rodri.

It is further revealed that Josko Gvardiol returns to the starting line-up for Pep Guardiola in west London tonight.

Thomas Frank and Pep Guardiola are expected to confirm their respective Brentford and Manchester City starting line-ups around 18:15 (UK) on Tuesday evening.

Now confirmed.
