Bayern Munich’s director of sport spoke to BILD after Jonas Urbig’s crucial mistake in the Bavarians’ 1-1 draw with Union Berlin yesterday.
The 51-year-old boss exemplified the team unity at the club with a very philosophical answer for reporters.
“We win together, we lose together, and we draw together. You could say we could have defended better against the header.
“We could have defended the cross better – a few players were involved in [conceding] that goal, and that’s frustrating,” he explained.
Regarding the goalkeeper’s confidence, Eberl doesn’t believe it will have a lasting effect on the German youngster.
“No. After the Leverkusen game he wasn’t saying ‘I’m already there’. He will have to deal with this the same way now.
"If goalkeepers are involved in goals [conceded], they have to deal with it. He’s a young player but I’m not worried,” Eberl explained.
Urbig’s teammate Josip Stanisic revealed that the 21-year-old was livid after conceding late to Benedict Hollerbach.
“He was furious with himself, which is understandable. I think everyone has made mistakes in their career that led to a goal conceded.
“We don’t have to bury our heads in the sand … Jonas has done his job very well so far, and one mistake won’t change that,” the Croatian noted.
