The Eddie Howe Manchester City Press Conference has taken place.

The Newcastle United Head Coach speaking to the media ahead of Saturday afternoon’s match at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe and the players hoping to bounce back from defeat at Fulham.

United having so far progressed in the Carabao Cup and currently sixth in the Premier League table, after four wins and a draw in their opening five matches (all competitions).

Eddie Howe speaking at his Manchester City press conference on Friday morning:

“Everyone will be highly motivated.

“We need to make sure we make it as difficult as we can for our opponents, and to do that, we will need to be at our very best.

“We have to carry a threat; we have to be an attacking force in the game.

“We must be that attacking force, not forgetting what we are good at.

“Our challenge is to be competitive and try and impose ourselves on the game.”

Eddie Howe on previous meetings with Manchester City:

“We have had some really good games against them at home, some nearly moments for us, we felt we did a lot right but did not get the result last season [in the Premier League].

“I think it shows that against that type of opposition, the quality that Manchester City possess, you have to be on it for every minute.”

Eddie Howe on the AFC Wimbledon postponement:

“It gave us the opportunity to train which was a good thing for us, two really good days we got to then work with the team.

“I am pleased with the work we have done and we are looking for a better performance.”

Eddie Howe on injury and availability situation:

“We don’t have anyone coming back who has been out.

“Matt Targett has been out with eczema, a big flare-up for him but we hope to have him back in training today.”

So that means Targett missing again tomorrow, as well as Wilson, Lewis Miley, Lascelles and Botman.

With Eddie Howe adding that there could be a sixth player potentially missing as well for this Man City match:

“Alexander Isak is a doubt for this Manchester City game.

“He trained last week before the Fulham game on the Friday and then had an injection in his toe to be able to play.

“He felt fine but started to feel his toe in the final five to ten minutes.

“This is going to sound worse than it is… but there is a small break in his toe, but he can [potentially] play through it.

“A doubt for tomorrow, he hasn’t trained yet so we will have to make a decision on him.”
