Players weren’t necessarily the main topic of Eintracht Frankfurt board member and DFL executive Axel Hellmann’s speech to the Eintracht Frankfurt general assembly on Monday evening. The Bundesliga executive nevertheless made some interesting remarks when it came to speaking on the attacking departures over the last 18 months.

Hellmann made reference to Randal Kolo Muani’s €95m move to Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day in September 2023. He naturally weaved this transition in with Omar Marmoush’s recent €75m sale to Manchester City last month. Marmoush bid an emotional farewell to the SGE ultras. Hellman began by stating that the feeling was mutual.

We all have tears in our eyes,” Hellmann said of Marmoush’s departure. “A player hungry for more opportunities is valuable to us. Not only if he stays, but also if he leaves the club on good terms. There are plenty of examples of how we bid a positive farewell to players. This is unique [to us].

“Other players are motivated to come to us because they see that something like this can work without complications,” Hellmann continued. “[Our recruitment] leaves us with an outstanding team that can play outstandingly good football.
