Sport1 reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are set to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nnamdi Collins, the 19-year-old is considered a big talent.
Collins will join Frankfurt for €1m and he will sign a five-year contract at the club. However, it is unlikely that the 19-year-old will be a part of the first team in the near future as he is to be sent out on loan for the next season or two so he can become more adjusted to men’s professional football.
The centre-back has only played eight games of men’s senior football having previously played for Borussia Dortmund II in the 3.Liga apart from this handful of games, Collins spent most of the season captaining the under-19s.
Roma had also shown interest in Collins but their plan was to send the 19-year-old to their second team and for him to develop there instead. Jose Mourinho saw Collins as a player who could become a key piece of Roma’s defence in the future.
The loss of Collins is a big blow for Dortmund as not only have they lost a highly-rated prospect but they have also lost a player who had strong leadership qualities.
Although Dortmund may be a good place to develop young foreign players it is clear that the club is beginning to neglect the academy with Youssoufa Moukoko the only player to be considered a success story in the last few seasons.
