Empoli and Lazio are both desperate to climb up the table, albeit for different reasons, but only one can prevail this weekend.

The two sides will lock horns in Sunday’s early Serie A kickoff. The encounter takes place at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Roberto D’Aversa has been incredibly unlucky with injuries this season, as his squad has been pared down to the bone. Christian Kouame, Pietro Pellegri, Nicholas Haas, Szymon Zurkowski and Youssef Maleh are all on the treatment, while club captain Alberto Grassi is serving a suspension.

Lorenzo Colombo is expected to lead the line, supported by Sebastiano Esposito and Liberto Cacace, while Emmanuel Gyasi and Giuseppe Pezzella will operate on the flanks. Former Lazio transfer target, Jacopo Fazzini, should be the one pulling the strings in midfield alongside fellow youngster Luca Marianucci.

Matias Vecino is pushing for a starting role, but Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella remain the favourites. Gustav Isaksen and Mattia Zaccagni will start on the wings once more, but Pedro could replace Boulaye Dia in the attacking-midfielder role. Taty Castellanos will spearhead the Aquile’s charge.
