QPR could have Jimmy Dunne back this weekend, whilst boss Mick Beale revealed that the knee injury Jake Clarke-Salter suffered at Birmingham is not as bad as first feared.

The R’s have enjoyed a very good start to the season under the former Aston Villa coach but they fell to a disappointing defeat at St. Andrew’s on Friday night.

And, to make matters worse, Clarke-Salter was forced off in the first-half with a knee issue. However, speaking to West London Sport, Beale confirmed they had received an encouraging update on the defender, even if he may not play before the World Cup.

“We’ve had some good news on Jake. He might miss the next couple of games but it’s nothing worse than that. I was really worried about it. So when the doctor called to give me the news I was really pleased.

“We’ve still got to wait to see how it settles, but the diagnosis was really positive.”

Meanwhile, the boss also revealed that centre-back Dunne, who had missed the past two games, could return against West Brom on Saturday.

Clearly QPR felt CLarke-Salter could be set for a lengthy spell out, so the news is really positive and the World Cup break will probably come at a good time for the defender.

In the short-term, the fact Dunne can step back in after tomorrow’s game at Norwich means Clarke-Salter shouldn’t be missed too much.

So, the R’s are in a decent position squad wise going into these four games before the league stops and they will be desperate to get back to winning ways after the setback at Birmingham.
