England cruised through to the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup on Saturday evening after defeating Senegal.

The Three Lions were slow out of the blocks and were second best for much of the first half.

But they gained the upper hand after Jordan Henderson’s opener in the 38th minute and they controlled proceedings for the rest of the match.

Harry Kane doubled England’s advantage shortly after their opener and gave them a two-goal lead going into half-time.

Bukayo Saka made it 3-0 in the 57th minute and there were no further goals as England secured a convincing victory.

Wright and Neville went wild as they celebrated Kane scoring his first goal of the tournament.

Keane didn’t share the duo’s enthusiasm, though.

The Irishman showed next to no emotion as he turned his back on the game and jotted down some notes.

Keane: England won’t fear France

England will now play France in the quarterfinals.

While he wasn’t exactly jumping around with excitement after Kane’s goal, Keane heaped praise on England following the match.

“We spoke about these players before the game, and what they’re doing is producing. It’s about what you do today, in these games. France coming up in the next few days, but that’s why the players deserve credit,” he said, per the Daily Mail.

“They’re producing week in, week out and that’s why they’re top players. Still young, you know their best days are still ahead, they’re fantastic and they’re producing.”

He added: “This ended up being an easy game, but their performance made it an easy game. The second half, [was just] walking pace. The first half, the damage was done – the second goal just on half time.

“These young players, will they be fearful of France? Absolutely not. Go and take them on, show some courage, bravery. That’s what they’ve been doing the last few years and all credit to them.”
