England make it two wins out of two with ten-goal demolition of Luxembourg | OneFootball

England have made it two wins out of two in FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying with a 10-0 victory over Luxembourg this evening.

The Lionesses defeated North Macedonia 8-0 in Southampton on Friday night and Sarina Wiegman’s side added a further 10 goals without reply to their tally at Luxembourg’s National Stadium this evening.

England started the game with plenty of flowing movement and Ellen White flicked home the opening goal after 12 minutes after getting on the end of Manchester City teammate Lauren Hemp’s delivery.

White soon added her second goal, finishing off another flowing England move, before Nikita Parris headed home a third, directing the ball through what seemed like a forest of desperate home defenders.

England would go into half-time 4-0 up with Alex Greenwood thumping the ball into the net from the edge of the box.

The second half started in the same manner that the first had ended with Greenwood firing in another goal from range, this time the ball taking a wicked deflection on it’s way into the net. Home defender Jessica Berscheid then diverted a Beth Mead cross into her own net with Beth England lurking before Millie Bright headed home a seventh, her first goal for her national team.

Luxembourg sat deeper and deeper as the half went on, making it tougher for England to create space but there was a late flurry of goals for the Lionesses in second half injury time as Wiegman’s side made it a perfect 10.

First, Bright headed home a Mead cross before Rachel Daly scrambled home goal number nine. With Luxembourg having lost their defensive shape in the final few minutes England headed home a tenth goal as the Lionesses recorded their biggest win in seven years.

England are back in FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying action next month when they host Northern Ireland at Wembley before travelling to Latvia.
