Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed what impressed him about Pedro Neto’s performance against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in London.

The Blues edged past relegation-threatened Leicester 1-0 at home in the Premier League on Sunday.

Marc Cucurella’s goal on the hour mark proved to be the difference between the two sides.

The Spain international left-back found the back of the net when he beat Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen with a left-footed effort from 25 yards.

While Maresca has raved about Cucurella, the Chelsea boss has not forgotten to shower praise on Neto as well.

The £54 million (BBC Sport) 2024 summer signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers started the match for Chelsea as the centre-forward in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The 25-year-old Portugal international, who is a winger by trade, did not have the best of times in the first half and was relatively quiet.

Pedro, though, burst into life in the second half and worked hard for the Blues.

Maresca told Football.London about Neto: “Pedro is doing fantastic – he was running everywhere today, he was running.”

View: Chelsea will finish in the Premier League top four

There was a period when it looked as though Chelsea could challenge for the Premier League title, but things have not panned out that way.

The Blues, though, are in the race for the Champions League places in the Premier League table, and in all likelihood, they will get one.

Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 49 points from 28 matches.

Maresca’s side are only two points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest and two points ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who are fifth.

With matches against Brentford, Ipswich Town, Fulham, Everton and Manchester United to come between now and the end of the season, Chelsea should feel confident of ending up fourth in the Premier League table this season.
