“Roma was my first team in Europe,” said Lamela.

“I told my wife that I would never play against Roma, and the first time was against Sevilla in the Europa League final, which was incredible. But that’s football.”

“A lot of Roma fans were not happy that I was part of the team that beat them in the final. But obviously, although I have strong feelings for Roma, when I played against them my thoughts were only for Sevilla.”

“Scoring in the final penalty shootout was nice and we were obviously happy to have won the competition.”
