Both Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford have struggled in recent months at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s future has been a constant debate in recent months after Ineos’ part-takeover was completed last campaign.

The former Ajax coach was expected to leave Old Trafford after reports emerged that Sir Jim Ratcliffe had decided to replace the 54-year-old coach regardless of the FA Cup Final against Manchester City.

However, Ineos reiterated that any decision would take place at the end of the season.

The Red Devils were victorious against their local rivals City with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.

Being crowned FA Cup Champions would have played a big part in Ineos’ decision to extend Ten Hag’s contract with the belief that the Dutch coach is the right man for the Old Trafford hot seat.

Marcus Rashford is no longer the main man for Erik ten Hag

The 54-year-old coach had an impressive start to life at Manchester United, finishing 3rd in the Premier League and lifting the Carabao Cup after a 2-0 victory at Wembley against Newcastle United.

However, since his debut season, the Dutchman has struggled to find consistent form at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford’s form has undoubtedly coincided with this form.

In the 2022/23 season, Rashford scored 29 goals and was the main man of the new-look United side under Ten Hag.

Last campaign the 26-year-old struggled to recapture his form and looked an unhappy figure throughout the season.

Rashford’s love for United is undoubted but in the past 12 months, he has looked a completely different player.

Ineos have shown they are keen to be ruthless and want to continue improving the squad in the coming transfer windows.

Rashford will undoubtedly want to stay at Old Trafford but if his form continues to decline it wouldn’t be a huge shock if the Englishman eventually departed.

Unlocking Rashford’s form is key to Ten Hag Manchester United future

Both Rashford and Ten Hag need to turn around their fortune at Old Trafford in the coming months.

If Ten Hag can help Rashford rediscover his past goal-scoring form it would be a huge benefit to United and could save both their Manchester United futures.

It is clear that Rashford has the ability, he has shown this in the past, but currently, there seems to be something that isn’t clicking for the 26-year-old.

If the former Ajax boss wants to remain as Red Devils boss then he should make it his mission to help Rashford rediscover this confidence because it just could be the key to improve results and turn around their United careers.
