The availability of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland against Brentford, and the Norwegian’s starting prospects, have now been confirmed on Saturday morning.

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form during his opening three Premier League fixtures this season, recording a staggering seven goals in a tally that is more than most of the division’s clubs at this stage of the campaign.

Haaland’s opening weekend strike at Stamford Bridge as part of a 0-2 win over Chelsea was followed up by successive hat-tricks, as Manchester City dismissed of Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium via a 4-1 win, and West Ham United at the London Stadium in a 1-3 outcome.

Having completed the first international break of the season without any problems on the injury front, there have been challenges for Erling Haaland and his wider circle of family and friends, following the tragic loss of confidant, Ivar Eggja.

Eggja has supported the Haaland family for several decades, and has stood by the 24-year-old striker throughout his young career, appearing at his unveiling as a Manchester City player in 2022, and travelling with the Norwegian to the Ballon d’Or ceremony last year.

City have shown full support for the striker, insisting they would be willing to grant a period of compassionate leave should that be requested, whilst Pep Guardiola insisted during his pre-match press conference than an assessment on the striker would be made on matchday.

And with several hours until Manchester City kick-off their latest bulk of matches with a meeting against Brentford, reports have clarified the availability of Erling Haaland against The Bees.

According to the information of reliable early team news provider The FPL Newsletter on X, Haaland starts as normal for Manchester City against Brentford at the Etihad Stadium following a difficult week in his personal life.

The 24-year-old will be integral to Pep Guardiola’s success in an attacking sense this season, with the Catalan coach likely to become even more reliant on the Norway international’s output following a summer of change in the striker role.

Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid in a deal understood to be worth a total potential package of €95 million was not responded to by Manchester City with a new striker signing to replace the Argentine.

As such, Haaland has a free-run at the lone striker role at the Etihad Stadium, and Guardiola will be tasked with finding alternative solutions – potentially via a false-nine system – in times of absence for the former Borussia Dortmund man.
