For years now, Erling Haaland has been constantly linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. The Spanish capital giants were interested in the Norwegian back in 2022 when he left Borussia Dortmund to sign for Manchester City.

Having signed for the Cityzens, the centre-forward has gone on to establish himself as one of the most destructive goalscorers in Europe and the interest from Real Madrid has persisted.

Even though Haaland recently signed a long-term contract until 2034 with Man City not so long ago, reports earlier this month suggested that Real Madrid continue to track him and plan to make a move if Vinicius Jr. leaves for Saudi Arabia.

Haaland’s agent responds

Following the return of the speculations about a potential transfer to Real Madrid, Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has come out and addressed the rumours.

The Norwegian’s representative suggested that it was normal for him to be linked with Los Blancos despite him having signed a long-term contract not long ago.

“Do you think Erling will ever cut himself, even having this long term contract with City, from rumours about Real Madrid? It’s always Haaland and Real Madrid in the media,” she said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Downplaying the links, though, she added: “People like to talk and there will always be rumours. I never make any comments or never address the media.”

No immediate move for Haaland

Despite the continued interest, an immediate move for Haaland from Real Madrid looks increasingly unlikely.

The Merengues have other priorities heading into the summer transfer window, mostly in the defensive department – with the signing of a right-back, and possibly a centre-back and a left-back also being considered.

As far as the attacking unit is concerned, unless there is a major departure in the summer, it is unlikely that a new forward will be signed.
