Evann Guessand (23) played a big role in OGC Nice’s win on the final day of the season and in what could be his final for his formative club.

Guessand netted the opener for Nice and set up Gaëtan Laborde for Nice’s second as they beat Stade Brestois 6-0, a result that ensures the club finishes fourth. It means that Le Gym will take part in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers next season.

The question is whether that will be with or without Guessand. Given Franck Haise’s comments on the Ivory Coast international post-match, it may be the latter. “We know that Evann will be one of the players who is highly sought after. What matters is what he has done this season,” began the Nice manager in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.

He added, “Like other French clubs, we have to sell to buy this summer.” No player has a higher market value than Guessand at Nice. His future seemingly lies elsewhere. Aston Villa and West Ham United were notably linked with the centre-forward in January.
