Everton have confirmed the news that midfielder Inma Gabarro has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Toffees announced the news via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

The 21-year-old Spanish international sustained the injury during the first half of the Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester United at Walton Hall Park on Sunday afternoon. The player went down in the 11th minute and she was unable to continue. After the match, Everton boss Brian Sørensen expressed his concern that Gabarro’s injury was severe.

Gabarro has now been full-assessed by the Everton medical staff and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). The youngster is expected to miss the remainder of the season. She will soon begin the rehabilitation process with the full support of the club.

Everton have had terrible luck with injuries in the opening weeks of the new season. Midfielder Aurora Galli has also been ruled out of action for the remainder of the campaign after rupturing her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in Everton’s 4-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on opening day.

Everton are next in action this evening when they travel to Newcastle United for a Women’s League Cup fixture.
