Everton have confirmed the news that midfielder Aurora Galli sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in the Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday.

The Blue Girls announced the news via a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

The 27-year-old Italian international midfielder played the majority of the game against Brighton & Hove Albion before coming off injured towards the end of the contest. After the match, Everton manager Brian Sørensen said that Galli’s injury looked like ‘one of the bad ones’.

Galli’s injury has now been fully-assessed by the Everton medical team and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). The player is not expected to feature for Everton again this season. She will begin her rehabilitation with the club in the coming weeks.

The injury is a bitter blow for Galli who signed a new contract with Everton over the summer. The player is into her fourth season on Merseyside. Galli has made 58 appearances for Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored four goals.

Galli’s injury capped-off a difficult opening day for Everton with Sørensen’s side losing 4-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.
