Everton might snub off interest in Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters. The Toffees consider Southampton's £7M demand too much for Walker-Peters, who is now in the last six months of his contract.

Everton's chase of Saints star Kyle Walker-Peters has not been something new. And it has been for obvious reasons, given the player has emerged as one of the most promising full-backs in the Premier League.

Understandably, with the full-back's contract expiring in June, there have been speculations going around at Southampton.

To the point that, ahead of the game against Swansea, boss Ivan Juric had to intervene himself. As the manager had urged, Walker-Peters must stay at Southampton, if they are to escape relegation.

And it feels that fortune wants the same as well.

As per TeamTalk reports, sources state that Everton's interest seems to be fading in the Walker-Peters deal.

Aware of the player's potential, Southampton does not want to consider anything below £7 million. However, potential suitors consider it to be too much, given he is in the final stages of his contract.

In the overall scenario, Southampton is now left with two options. Either convince the player to a new contract extension or let him leave for free in the summer.

Clearly, as obvious as it sounds, the Saints would want to go along with the first option. For the same, the club is willing to make another attempt to agree Walker-Peters for a new deal.

But that may not be as simple as it sounds.

Being one of the most versatile full-backs in England, Walker-Peters would want to continue in the top flight. This makes escaping relegation, even more necessary for Southampton.

With the future of one of their best players on the line, the club would want to give it all, on and off the field. Clearly, the upcoming weeks will be critical for Walker-Peters Southampton's future.

Let's hope for the best in the right-back's ongoing transfer saga.
