The Toffees are looking to bring in more reinforcements at the top end of the pitch despite already bringing in Beto, Youssef Chermiti, Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison in attacking positions this summer.

Everton have got off to a terrible start in the Premier League with three losses from their first three matches against Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves – but they have a very winnable match against newly-promoted Sheffield United on Saturday.

And Sean Dyche will be hoping to have more signings to call upon when they face the Blades at Bramall Lane with the Daily Telegraph insisting that they are ‘preparing an offer’ for West Ham forward Cornet.

The Toffees want the former Lyon man ‘on a season-long loan’ with Cornet a target for the Premier League club before he moved to West Ham.

It’s understood that the Ivory Coast international is now ‘back on Everton’s radar’ despite suffering injury problems last season that meant he only played 15 times for David Moyes last term.

Demarai Gray has been the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League and ‘could leave before the deadline’ with Dyche looking to make sure he has Cornet lined up to make sure he’s not unable to fill holes before the deadline.

West Ham were hoping to complete a deal for Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto but Football Insider have claimed today that a deal has now ‘collapsed’.

The report adds:

‘The London club agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old on Monday and were all set to finalise the deal and announce a marquee signing. ‘But West Ham have now walked away from a deal after failing to agree on a price with the Brazilian club.’

And now they will look for ‘alternative targets’ with French football expert Jonathan Johnson claiming they are still interested in Paris Saint-Germain forwarrd Hugo Ekitike.

Johnson wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Still, in order to get those signings over the line PSG will also have to sell one or two players and Hugo Ekitike is in that group. It’s not worked out as PSG hoped it would for him since his arrival so he could potentially be on the move.

“West Ham have been interested and asked PSG about him, as have Brentford. Eintracht Frankfurt could be there too, though they’re keen to keep those discussions separate to those involving Kolo Muani.”
