According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the club are working behind the scenes to set up a deal for the Strasbourg attacking midfielder.

The French club have been insisting that Diarra is not for sale but Everton are undeterred by their stance.

The Merseyside club are planning to table an offer for him soon and test Strasbourg’s desire to hold on to Diarra.

Diarra was stopped from joining Lens last summer but Everton are pushing hard to get a different outcome a year later.
