Flamengo have plenty of room for improvement at both ends of the pitch, according to Éverton Ribeiro.
The attacker was speaking after the Rubro-Negro drew the first leg of their Campeonato Carioca final against Fluminense on Saturday.
Gabriel Barbosa put the Mengão ahead with a first-half penalty, but they failed to make the most of a plethora of chances and subsequently conceded a set-piece equaliser scored by Abel Hernández 13 minutes from time.
“I believe that we sinned in the submission. We had more chances, more clear chances, but we weren’t able to do it,” Ribeiro said, per Gazeta Esportiva.
“In the second half, they came out more for the game and got a goal on the dead ball.
“Unfortunately, we have been sinning in some games on this. So we have to improve, both at the front and at the time of marking, in order to be victorious and champion.”
Flamengo host LDU Quito in a Copa Libertadores clash on Wednesday before the second leg of the Carioca decider against the Tricolor next Saturday.
