Everton have announced the signing of young midfielder Emma Watson on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Watson makes the move to Merseyside following her comeback from an ACL injury that saw her miss the whole of her debut season with United. The midfielder was further made to wait for debut after a minor problem at the start of this campaign, but it coincidentally arrived against her new team when the side defeated Everton 2-0 in the Subway Women's League Cup group stage.

The 18-year-old has needed to be patient, finding it tough to earn senior minutes, but scored a first goal in the closing stages of the calendar year against Championship side Newcastle United.

Despite her age, Watson has already managed to make her way into the Scotland national team. The midfielder featured in fixtures against Hungary and Finland during the UEFA Euro 2025 qualifiers, coming off the bench on all four occasions. Watson has made eight appearances for Scotland since making her debut in March 2023.

The Toffees have secured the signature of the impressive prospect in what has already been an eventuful transfer window for the Merseyside club. Brian Sorensen's team have welcomed Kelly Gago and Martina Fernandez to their ranks, and reports suggest Hayley Ladd is also set for a move.

Speaking to Everton's official website upon her arrival, Watson expressed her excitement to join the club: "I definitely think it's a place that will really suit me and I'm really looking forward to it."

Everton will be back in action this weekend as they host Tottenham Hotspur in an all-WSL fourth round tie in the Adobe Women's FA Cup at Walton Hall Park.
