Every Tottenham signing under Ange Postecoglou – and how they have fared so far | OneFootball

It has been 17 months since the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager.

After a first season in charge which brought both excitement and inconsistency, Spurs have leaned more towards the latter this season and sit 10th in the Premier League table after 11 games played following the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich on Sunday.

Postecoglou has implemented a completely new style of play compared with his predecessors, and has had three transfer windows to add players he believes can play the football he wants.

But how have the players signed during that time fared so far?

Brennan Johnson – £47.5m

The forward arrived from Nottingham Forest last summer for a big fee and after a mixed first season at the club, has found form this campaign, scoring four league goals in 11 games so far and is looking more like the player worthy of the significant sum paid for him.

James Maddison – £40m

Maddison arrived from Leicester with a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking midfielders. He started last season on fire before his year was disrupted by injury, and has found himself in and out of the starting 11 this season. His quality on the ball has always been clear though.

Pedro Porro – £40m

The right-back made his initial loan move permanent last summer and was one of the most creative players, let alone defenders, in the Premier League last season. He has not matched those levels this season though and has been part of a defence which has leaked goals.

Micky Van de Ven – £43m

Perhaps Spurs’ best signing under Postecoglou. The defender has established himself as one of the league’s best since arriving though injuries have hindered him so far and he has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods. A big miss when he is out.

Dejan Kulusevski – £25.6m

Like Porro, made his loan move permanent last summer and has probably been Tottenham’s best player this season. Seems to be thriving in a more central position as opposed to playing out wide.

Guglielmo Vicario – £17m

It is fair to say that the jury is still out on goalkeeper Vicario. He has impressed with some of his shot stopping and distribution but his command of the penalty area has been poor at times and he has struggled to deal with set pieces.

Radu Dragusin – £26.7m

Has failed to nail down a starting place since his move in January and has also struggled for form of late. Yet to really impress for the club.

Timo Werner – loan

Has been on loan at Spurs since January but his wastefulness in front of goal has been a big frustration. Postecoglou recently admitted he needs more from the attacker.

Dominic Solanke – £65m

Spurs splashed out a club record fee for the striker this summer after scoring 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season. Still early days but has made a decent start, scoring four goals in nine games and has provided the team with more of a focal point up top.

Archie Gray – £30m

Still only 18, Gray has plenty of time ahead of him to grow into the player Spurs hope he will be. Has been used in a number of different positions so far, mostly off the bench in the league, but has started games in other competitions.

Wilson Odobert – £25m

Arrived from Burnley in the summer but has missed most of this season through injury.

Lucas Bergvall – £8.5m

Like Gray, a young player who arrived with plenty of excitement but has found game time hard to come by so far. Still only 18 though so far too early to make a judgement.

Alejo Veliz – £13m

One for the future. Has not played much for the first team and is currently out on loan at Espanyol.

Ashley Phillips – £2m

Another one signed with the future in mind. Still only 19 and is currently out on loan at Stoke.

Manor Solomon – free

Suffered a bad injury which forced him to miss much of last season and is spending this campaign out on loan at Leeds.

Yang Min-hyeok – £1m

Korean winger who will officially join the club from Gangwon FC in January.
